When Windows Live Messenger (MSN Messenger) gained popularity in the years '00, also viruses started targeting the messaging platform. After yet another widespread infection between my contacts, I had the idea to combine DropMyRights with a small AutoIT script to strengthen Windows' defences. WLMSecure substituted the MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger executable with itself, then launched DropMyRights under the hood and finally started the messaging client, with a reduced set of privileges, approximating what Windows Vista would do in a few months with its User Account Control (UAC). Thanks to BarbaInstaller that bundled it in, WLMSecure contributed to protect a few hundred users that downloaded it from Messenger Italia.
